There are five types of nouns. 




1.A proper noun is the name of a particular person or place as India. Bhopal, neeraj, diksha etc.

 eg. Bhopal is the capital of Madhy pradesh. 


2. A common noun is a name given in comman to every person or thing of the same class or kind as baby, girl, book, man etc. 

eg. A baby is crying. 

3. An abstract noun is the name of something that we can only think of, as hope, childhood sweetness, honesty etc. 

4. A collective noun is the name of a number of people or things considered as one unit as class troop, assembly. 

5. A material noun - A noun whitch stands for the matter or substance of which things are made is colled a material noun as iron, wood, gold, cotton. 

eg. Ornaments are made of silver and gold.

One day Nasiruddin went the town to buy new clothes. First he tried on a pair of trousers. 

 He didn't like it so he gave it back to the shopkeeper. Then he tried on a robe which had the same price as the trousers. Nasiruddin was pleased with robe, and he left the shop with it before he climbed on his donkey to ride home, 

The shopkeeper and the shop assistant ran out. 

"You didn't pay for the robe! " Said the shopkeeper. But I gave you the trousers in exchange for the robe, didn't I? ", replied Nasiruddin. 

" Yes but you didn't pay for the trousers either! " 

Said the shopkeeper. But I didn't buy the trousers , "replied Nasiruddin. " I am not so stupid as to pay for something which I never bought.
